We’re so happy you found us! The first step of reaching out can be intimidating but we want to help make it as easy as possible for you. Here are some frequently asked questions about the coaching process at Loving Longer. Please contact us with any other questions you may have!
Kelsey strongly believes in ensuring that everyone involved in the coaching relationship feels like it’s a good fit. This means you’ll start with an initial 75-minute consultation via video where you and your partner can meet Kelsey, learn more about her, share what you’re hoping to get out of coaching, and hear how Kelsey’s approach may (or may not) align with your goals.
Due to typically having a wait list and her desire to be genuine and transparent, Kelsey will be honest with you if she thinks she won’t be the best fit for you — or if she has recommendations of something else to try first.
The initial 75-minute consultation is $300.
Our Client Specialist will contact you to schedule your initial consultation appointment after you’ve completed a contact form on our website.
Coaching prices vary based on whether you are scheduling appointments one-at-a-time or signing up for a coaching package (a series of sessions determined by either number of sessions or length of time).
Unfortunately, relationship and intimacy coaching are not billable services through your insurance. All fees are charged at the time of service and are self-pay.
We understand that coaching is a financial investment and oftentimes its cost may prohibit people from participating. For individualized support, this investment is necessary to secure time with Kelsey and support the continuation of the Loving Longer Academy.
But you can be part of the Loving Longer community for free!
Our Virtual Monthly Community Meet-Ups are a way to get face-to-face with Kelsey, learn something new about relationships or personal growth and development, and connect with other individuals and couples who are also seeking a more sustainable perspective and approach to long-term happiness in partnership. These meetings are free and may range from 2-30 attendees. They can be a great way to stumble on individualized support if you catch them on a lower-attendance day.
You can also sign up for our monthly Community Letter where you can learn more about what other members of the community are learning or struggling with in their own relationships, receive some insight or motivation from Kelsey, and find out about a new experiment to play with in your own relationship.
Clients who work with Kelsey for coaching can feel good about knowing that part of their investment is also investing in the greater good – in supporting a larger culture of healthier relationships by providing more access to accurate information, relevant research findings, and direct support from Kelsey for those who can’t afford coaching.
Yes! Kelsey’s approach is heavily based on self-work, which means that she believes you can make big changes in your relationship even through individual coaching.
Kelsey offers virtual coaching appointments as most of her clients reside in various states around the country. If you are interested in meeting in-person for some or all of your coaching sessions, Kelsey is happy to arrange that, as well! Sometimes, this may take the form of intensive coaching weeks/weekends.
The shortest answer is: coaching has nothing to do with mental health.
Counseling is traditionally focused on treatment for specific mental health diagnoses, such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, etc. Due to licensing restrictions that vary per state, Kelsey can only offer counseling to individuals and couples who are currently within the state of Michigan.
Even though Kelsey is a licensed therapist within the state of Michigan, she is not using her mental health license to provide coaching services. If mental health issues become apparent and need to be addressed, coaching will be either immediately terminated and you will be referred to a licensed counselor within your state, or the focus of your coaching sessions will be redirected while you seek additional outside support with a therapist.
Your privacy is one of the most important parts of the coaching process, so we take it very seriously. Everything in relationship and intimacy coaching is confidential, with one exception:
If someone is in danger. As a licensed professional (even though she is not using her license with coaching clients), Kelsey is a mandated reporter and has an ethical responsibility to disclose to law enforcement if you report a plan or intent to harm yourself or another person. She also has a special duty to protect vulnerable populations, such as children.
Outside of that exception, Kelsey is dedicated to honoring your confidentiality and recognizes how important it is. She regularly works with CEOs, CFOs, founders and leaders of small and large businesses, non-profit foundation members, helping professionals, performing actors/actresses, and musicians, engineers, finance professionals, and stay-at-home parents. Whatever your situation is, you deserve to have your privacy protected and respected.
As part of the intake paperwork that you complete prior to your consultation appointment, you will complete a payment processing form. This form allows us to store your credit/debit card information in our secure and confidential software.
If you are signed up with a coaching package, your card will be charted automatically on your monthly billing day. For individually scheduled coaching sessions, your card will be charged for each session that you attend and for any sessions that are missed or cancelled without proper notice.
Similar to many other professionals, we hold a 48-hour cancellation policy.
In the event that you have signed up for a coaching package, we will do our best to accommodate rescheduling your appointment but can not guarantee rescheduling in a given week without a 48-hour notice.
For individually scheduled coaching sessions, you will be charged the full session rate for all sessions missed or cancelled within 48 hours of the start time of your appointment.
If you have further questions about billing, you can direct them to our Client Specialist.
After the initial 75-minute consultation appointment, we set up our next coaching sessions. How long or how often you continue coaching depends on your goals, needs, and rate of “progress”. According to research, how comfortable you feel with Kelsey and how frequently you can meet in the beginning of the coaching process will have the largest impact on positive outcomes and experiences from coaching.
